On his recent personal page, soccer superstar Lionel Messi confirmed that he will be auctioning off six jerseys that he wore during the 2022 World Cup tournament, in which he and his teammates emerged victorious. Even the commemorative jersey that Messi wore during the final match against France will be up for sale.
A company based in the UK is set to win the auction, with estimates suggesting they could bring in up to $10 million. The Argentine media has also speculated that the bidding amount could reach $10 million. Messi’s noble intention behind this action has also been revealed. Some of the funds raised will be donated to UNICAS, a project managed by a hospital in Barcelona, to provide treatment for children with rare diseases.
Messi revealed that his friend had informed him about a unique auction featuring six World Cup jerseys worn by the football star, including the one he wore in the final match.
The auction process will take place online from November 30th to December 14th. Last year, Diego Maradona’s historic shirt, worn during the 1986 World Cup, was sold for $9.3 million. Currently, Messi is in Brazil preparing for a showdown with the home team in the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. This highly anticipated match will take place at 7:30am tomorrow (November 22nd).
